“Experience the United Nations” ——International Youth Visit Program

I. About Wu Jianmin Foundation

Ambassador Wu Jianmin devoted his life to China's diplomatic cause, working hard to safeguard China's national interests. With a strong sense of responsibility, mission and professionalism, he made great contributions to promoting China's concept of peaceful development, facilitating communication between China and the world, improving the quality of the people and cultivating young students.

In order to carry forward Ambassador Wu's lifelong pursuit of peace and development for China and the world, as well as to fulfill his unfinished mission, Madame Shi Yanhua (Ambassador Wu's wife) and Ambassador Wu's friends in conjunction with like-minded people from other social circles co-sponsored the Beijing-based Wu Jianmin Public Charity Foundation, which got registered on December 15, 2016 upon the approval of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs.

With a mission of aiding the students and cultivating talents, the Foundation will help outstanding students to become professionals in diplomatic and foreign affairs who are patriotic, enthusiastic about public welfare, and well-educated in moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic domains.

II. Background of the EUNP

The International Youth Visit Program is a core program of the Wu Jianmin Foundation (WJF). Hosted by CFAU and co-sponsored by the Wu Jianmin Foundation (WJF) under the joint guidance of the MFA, MOE, CCYL and UNA-China, the "Beijing International Model United Nations" (BIMUN) has become one of the most famous MUN activities in China and the Asian-Pacific region, demonstrating the top academic and China's MUN as a banner of MUN activities nationwide. Working with CFAU, WJF has decided to set up the "Ambassador Wu Jianmin Award" in the BIMUN from 2018 onwards, which will be granted to outstanding delegates selected by the judging committee, who will then participate in the EUNP, paying a 10-day visit to international organizations such as the UN Headquarters to combine theory with practice, expand China's role in UN affairs, and get trained for international operation.
