The Enlarged 3rd Session of the 1st Council Meeting of Beijing Wu Jianmin Foundation successfully held in Beijing
The enlarged 3rd Session of the 1st Wu Jianmin Foundation Council Meeting was successfully held in Beijing on March 30, 2018. Chairman Wu Jiansheng presided over the meeting. The guests who attended the meeting mainly included Sha Zukang, senior consultant of the Foundation and former UN Under-Secretary-General, Zhou Mingwei, senior consultant of the Foundation and former President of China International Publishing Group, General Chen Xiaogong, deputy commander of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF), Tang Wensheng, former Vice Chairwoman of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), Han Zhiqiang, Director-General of the MFA General Office, Qin Yaqing, President of CFAU, Bian Haiyan, founder of Ningxia Yan Bao Charity Foundation (YBCF), Xin Guangwei, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Publishing House , Liu Zhiming, former Chinese ambassador to Lebanon, Sun Haichao, former Chinese ambassador to Central African Republic, Zhang Guobin, WJF Council member, secretary-general of the Charhar Institute and former Chinese Consulate-General in Strasbourg, Cheng Hong, Secretary-General of the China Entrepreneur Club, Chen Ye, Vice Chairman of Eurasian System Science Research Association (ESSRA), Hou Xianghua, formal head of Centre Culturel de Chine à Paris, Wang Yali, vice president of World Affair Press, and Wu Xiaoping, director of CFAU Foreign Affairs Office, and supervisor Guo Su.
The following issued were discussed and decided at the meeting:
I. Xu Bo was added as a director
According to the provisions of the Constitution, Xu Bo was added as a new director of the Foundation upon discussion.
II. The Foundation's annual budget and work plan for 2018 were discussed
1. WJF Secretary-General Feng Wei reported to the Council on the Foundation's annual work budget and work plan for 2018.
The Foundation's major projects in 2018 include:
(1) Strengthen studies on communicology and prepare the Dialogues of Wu Jianmin (currently under compilation);
(2) Besides the "Wu Jianmin Scholarship" of CFAU, the WJF plans to cooperate with China National Association for International Studies (CNAIS) to set up the "Wu Jianmin Award for Research Outcome in International Relations" (tentative title) open to the international relations research community in China;
(3) Implement this year's Program for the French youth delegation's visit to China (June 2-15, 2018);
(4) Cooperate with the Beijing International Model United Nations (BIMUN) to set up an "Into the United Nations " program and send winners of the BIMUN contest to visit the UN offices in Geneva and headquarters in New York, experiencing the UN on their own;
(5) Cooperate with the China Youth Center for International Exchange of the Communist Youth League and co-organize the "Centennial Memorial of the Work-Study Programme in France and of May 4th Movement" by sending outstanding Chinese young people to visit France, follow the footsteps of revolutionary pioneers, and experience the history of China's struggle for a hundred years;
(6) Publicize the Foundation, especially on new media, to expand its influence;
(7) Find innovative ways of raising money to sustain the foundation;
(8) Build up the WJF Secretariat, improve their professional competence and enhance the internal management.
2. After heated discussions, the attendants confirmed the work plan of the Foundation for 2018 and provided constructive suggestions for the Foundation's work during the year. It is believed that the WJF should be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a new era, fully internalize the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, follow the requirements of the Charity Law, and focus its work on cultivating the younger generation. The China story should be told in the right way to foreign youths so that they can further understand China; the diplomatic experience and diplomatic thinking of Ambassador Wu Jianmin should be collated to form the scientific methodology for educating the next generation.
III. Chairman Wu Jiansheng made a concluding speech
Chairman Wu Jiansheng made a concluding speech, declaring that meeting was a complete success. The addition of directors has reinforced the leadership of the WJF. The discussion of this year's work plan has elevated our confidence and clarified the orientation of the Foundation this year; As long as we make the best of our talent and pool our strength to form a joint force, we will certainly be able to cover the tasks of the Foundation in 2018.
