The 2nd Session of the 1st WJF Council held in Beijing
The 2nd Session of 1st WJF Council was held in Beijing on March 30, 2017. WJF Secretary-General Feng Wei hosted the Council.
In accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, the Council, after discussion, decided to add 7 new directors to the Foundation, respectively Wang Xin, Long Hao, Liu Yongsheng, Zhang Guobin, Xu Bo, Gong Yuanxing and Xin Gang. At the council, Gong Yuanxing was unanimously appointed Gong Yuanxing as Vice President of the Foundation upon a vote by show of hands.
After discussion, the Council also decided to engage Shi Yanhua as President and Zhao Qizheng as Honorary Chairman of the Foundation, and Ye Xiaowen, Long Yongtu and Wang Ronghua and 9 others as consultants of the Foundation.
Secretary-General Feng Wei reported to the Council on the preparation of Foundation and its 2017 annual work plan.
The guests present provided constructive guidance on the current work and long-term development of the Foundation as follows:
1. The WJF shall continue to deepen research into the diplomatic thinking and practice of Wu Jianmin, itemize the underlying projects relevant to Mr. Wu, such as the publication of his works, communicology studies, grants and scholarships, etc., and meanwhile expand the scale and coverage of the international visiting program for youths, in order that the program will become an influential international brand for cultural exchanges;
2. Explore the public diplomacy and public welfare projects that will help expand the influence of the WJF and enhance its brand, so that the Foundation will become a platform for all “friends of Wu Jianmin” at home and abroad, where they can work together for the peaceful development of China and the world;
3. Build the team into an executive one, compliant and gallant, lean and efficient;
4. Raise funds for the Foundation to ensure its sustainable development.
In the end, Chairman Wu Jiansheng made a concluding remark, stating that this Council was fruitful with the following outcome:
The recruitment of the honorary chairman, president, consultants and new directors will help to consolidate the Foundation's leadership;
The council reached a consensus and clarified the direction for the Foundation through discussion of this year's work plan.
Although it was not easy to set up the WJF, as long as we take full advantage of our resources, try hard to fulfill our obligations, blaze new trails and forge ahead, we will be able to do a good job in running the WJF.
